On the heels of The WB losing 20th and Regency Television's "Buffy
the Vampire Slayer" to UPN in last month's bidding war for the 2001-02
rights, there has been rampant speculation that if The WB let "Roswell"
go, UPN would snatch up its rights for a scheduling slot next season.
Meanwhile, WB officials have confirmed that "Buffy's" current 9
p.m. Tuesday companion, "Angel" (also produced by 20th and Regency),
will return to The WB's same time slot next fall.#
THIS FALL ON THE WB... The WB which also announces its new fall lineup
Tuesday is expected to cancel Roswell, Popular, Jack & Jill, Grosse
Pointe and The PJs. But the biggest surprise is that despite losing
Buffy the Vampire Slayer to UPN, the network will hold on to spinoff
series Angel. According to Variety, Angel will shift to Mondays at 9 pm
following 7th Heaven. It replaces Roswell, which is expected to be
picked up by UPN and scheduled after Buffy on Tuesdays. Also, Felicity
will return with a full 22-episode order, and the acclaimed freshman
drama, Gilmore Girls, will move from Thursdays to Tuesdays. The most
promising of the WB's new slate include Smallville, a retelling of the
young Superman mythology, and Deep in the Heart, a comedy starring Reba
McEntire
